Dear Church Family,
Today, we gathered to vote on an important decision in the life of our church. Our body has spoken, and I am excited to announce that 83.2% of today’s voting members (that is, 5 out of every 6 people) said we should proceed with the Budget and Finance Committee’s Euless Campus Project motion. My prayer was not for a certain percentage; it was that we would pray fervently, vote obediently, and align wholeheartedly, regardless of the result.
After the votes were counted, I gathered with key leaders, including elected members of the Budget and Finance Committee, Deacons, and others. Because unity is vital, I wanted to ensure we had heard clearly from the Lord and you, our people.
The group today was unanimous in recommending that we move ahead. Historically in churches like ours, a 75% vote is exceptional. When I was invited to become the pastor of this church, the vote had similar results (about 85%). I, too, firmly believe that the Lord is in this and that we can proceed with confidence.
I want to again publicly thank our Euless Campus Team members, who have spent thousands of working hours answering questions in Connection Groups and church-wide meetings, considering options, and much more. Most importantly, they’ve sought God’s direction. When you see them, please take a moment to thank them for their sacrificial service. I know they did this for the Lord and the people He would have us reach for decades to come.
Today is just the beginning of a long journey, and we’ll be communicating with you every step of the way. Now, more than ever, please join me in praying our three prayers: 1) God, is this of You?, 2) God, what’s my part?, and 3) God, bless your people that we may give to you.
God bless you, and I can’t wait to get started!
