Last year, through your generosity, Cross City raised enough money to offer clean water and the gospel to more than 21,000 individuals near Athi River in Kenya. We are so grateful for the lives that have been changed and the opportunity to be a part of an effective strategy. However, we know that there are many more Kenyans in need of this same life-changing opportunity.
Over the next 50 days, Cross City Missions is calling on our church to give $500,000 to continue this impact. With your offering, these Kenyans will hear the gospel at least four times in their native heart language. Three of these presentations will have the chance to take place in local homes shared by local missionaries and neighbors who have already accepted Jesus as their Savior. New believers will be discipled and connected with a local church by the people who led them to Jesus. All of these conversations are facilitated by giving each home a simple water filter that lasts over twenty years, medicine to treat waterborne illnesses, and either a text-based bible or audio bible in their native language!
As our goal is reached, approximately 10,000 homes will receive a water filter that will change their family’s health for an entire generation. The gospel will be shared over 40,000 times to over 150,000 people who live in some of the most impoverished, forgotten, and remote places in the world. To accomplish the goal, we partner with the Bucket Ministry, whose unique vision and strategy for reaching people helped us with the Athi River Project. Cross City’s team traveled to Kenya this year to see first-hand how many more homes need clean water and the gospel. Why the Bucket Ministry? Because their strategy of providing buckets and filters to homes meets a physical need through providing safe drinking water. When their team of local believers helps train a family on how to use the filter, they share the gospel. They then follow up at least three more times to train families on how to maintain the filter. Each visit is used to further the gospel conversation.
From now until Thanksgiving, during our 50 Days for the Nations focus, every gift to Cross City Missions will go directly to support the efforts in Kenya.
